She also donated to Catholic charities such as the Sisters of Mercy, Loyola College in Baltimore, and Gonzaga College in Washington, D.C.
Included are business correspondence between Emily Harper and her lawyer, Pierre C. Dugan, and her financial adviser, Robert Mickle; financial papers including accounts, bills, receipts, cancelled checks, and correspondence regarding loans; an account book (1870-1884) covering expenses such as home improvements, household expenses, loans, and donations to charities; and land papers, including plats, deeds, and a book of Miss Harper's lands on Carrollton Manor and Sugarloaf Mountain.
