Baltimore Battery of Light Artillery records
Abstract
The Baltimore Battery of Light Artillery records consist of enlistment certficates, muster rolls, roll books, monthly strength reports, casualty reports, lists of deserters, guard reports, commissary and quartermaster supply records, requisition and invoice books and records of court martials. These records are from 1862 through 1865.

Biographical / Historical
The Baltimore Battery of Light Artillery was organized in Baltimore, Maryland in August 1862. It was mustered into federal service on August 18, 1862. After two months of service in defence of Baltimore, it was attached to General John Reese Kenly's Maryland Brigade. In this capacity the battery served in defense of the Upper Potomac with the 8th Army Corps, Middle Department. The unit was stationed in several locations, including Williamsport, Maryland, Maryland Heights, and Berryville, Ohio from 1862 to 1863. The battery participated in several small skirmishes and several battles throughout the Civil War before disbanding on June 17, 1865.
