Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Corporate History Project oral history collection
Abstract
Interviewees included both retired and active employees of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. The interviews focus primarily on each interviewee’s employment at the company, but also touch on family life and educational background. A few discuss their service in the armed forces during World War II. Anton Endler, OH 8458, talks about his experiences as a National Guardsmen during the 1963 Cambridge, MD riots and the Baltimore Riots of 1968. Materials available for this collection include transcripts for each of the 20 interviews, audio recordings, biographical material, background information on the project, and correspondence.

Biographical / Historical
This collection of oral histories with employees of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company was part of a corporate history project undertaken to supplement and update Consolidated of Baltimore, 1916-1950, A History of Baltimore Gas, Electric Light, and Power Company, a history of the company published in 1950. John T. King III, who at the time was the Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board began working on a history of the company and decided that a collection of interviews with company employees would be beneficial to the project. The book, A History of the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, 1816-1987, was eventually published in 1989.
