Biographical / Historical

Cynthia Rosenwald (née Miller) was born in 1937, the daughter of a Hecht department store executive J. Jefferson Miller. She attended Wellesley College as an undergraduate and started a degree in political science at Goucher College. In 1956, she married Peter Benno Rosenwald (1934-2023) and they had three children.

She was also on serveral boards and councils, such as the Campaign Division of the Association of Jewish Charities and Welfare Fund, and volunteered for Spiro T. Agnew's (1918-1996) campaign for governor of Maryland. Eventually, Rosenwald became Agnew’s main speechwriter throughout his years as Maryland’s Governor (1967-1968) as well as during the first year in which he served as Vice President of the United States (1969-1973).
