Frederick County Historical Society collection
This is an artificial collection consisting of photocopies of original material owned by the Historical Society of Frederick County. The collection contains correspondence, genealogical information and some legal papers relative to Frederick County families from 1741-1935. The bulk of the material falls in the period of the Civil War.

This includes such documents as letters between family members, birth certificates, and death notices. Of particular interest is correspondence from William M. Griffin to his mother and siblings during his service with the Union Army.

Hicks correspondence
This collection contains correspondence to and from members of the Hicks family, 1833-1883. The primary correspondents include Captain Ratcliffe Hicks, his sons Charles R. Hicks and Alfred Hicks, his daughter Elizabeth Hicks Harding, and her husband, William Harding. The letters contain news on family and business affairs, chiefly news of sea trade.
Howard-Gilmor papers
This collection consists of the papers of the Benjamin Chew Howard family, relations of Robert Gilmor (1748-1822). Included are genealogies, newspaper clippings, property inventories, auction catalogs, and correspondence.
