Baltimore County Court chattel records
Three volumes of chattel records for Baltimore County, Maryland dated 1773-1784, 1785-1788, and 1811-1812. Entries include manumissions, bills of sale, bonds, powers of attorney, mortgages, and deeds of gift. The first volume contains the portraitist Joshua Johnson's manumission (p 299). Items sold include household furnishings, horses, tools and equipment, ships, and enslaved persons.
