Abstract

Richard Oktavec was a painter of Baltimore, Maryland, window screens. In this oral history interview, he discusses his father, William A. Oktavec, Sr, Baltimore's best-known window screen painter. Oktavec also talks about the location of his store, other goods sold, prices, styles and subjects of screens, renewal of demand for screens in the 1960s, and the destruction of the shop during the Baltimore riots of 1968.
