Scope and Contents
This collection primarily consists of genealogical records pertaining to the families of Ashcom and Reeder, but the families of Muir (fl. 1860s), Dawson (1710-1844), Thompson (1649-1752), Hooper (1651-1720), Gourley (1742-1873), Gould (fl. 1850s), Godwin (1729-1877), and Briscoe (1718-1830) are also mentioned.
The genealogical work was done between the 1890s and the 1960s, however most of it was completed in the earlier part of the twentieth century by Mrs. J. Dawson Reeder (Anne Carey Gourley Reeder). The types of materials contained consist largely of typescripts, handwritten notes, family scrapbooks, and newspaper clippings.
There are numerous reproductions throughout the entire collection: handwritten transcripts, typewritten transcripts, and photocopies are all utilized. The originals are sometimes contained along with the reproductions, but the location of missing original manuscripts is not known.
