Biographical / Historical

Robert Gilmor (1833-1906) was a Baltimore lawyer and judge. He was elected to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore in 1866 and served until 1882, when he returned to private practice. In 1867 he married Casilda Hodges (1849-1871), daughter of Benjamin Hodges of Baltimore. The couple's children were Anna (1868-1957), married Gustav Lurman Stewart; Bertha (1870-1955); and Robert (1871-1934), married Mary Olina Maxwell. Following his wife's death, Gilmor married Josephine Albert (1849-1925), daughter of Augustus Albert of Baltimore. Their children were Albert (1880-1971); Josephine (1881-1972), married Wallace Pinkney Harvey; Frances (1883-1982); and Ellen (1884-1975), married Thomas Gittings Buchanan Jr.
