Abstract
Charles E. Scarlett was the grandson of George Francis Patterson who founded Patterson, Ramsay & Co. in 1880, forerunner of Ramsay, Scarlett and Co. Mr. Scarlett was president of the Steamship Trade Association, 1951-52, and the National Association of Stevedores. In this oral history interview, he discusses family and business history, the restoration of Whitehall Mansion in Annapolis, Maryland, and the book he was writing on Edgar Allan Poe....
