Abstract
Walter Sondheim, Jr held many civic and leadership positions, appointments, and board memberships with a variety of organizations in Baltimore, Maryland, throughout his life. He served as chairman of the Baltimore Housing Authority, director of the Baltimore Urban League, vice-chairman of Charles Center-Inner Harbor Management, Inc., and senior vice-president and treasurer of Hochschild, Kohn & Company, to name a few. In this interview, Sondheim discusses his family and early life, as well as his alma mater, the Park School, a private elementary and high school in Baltimore, Maryland. Sondheim further discusses the period of desegregation during his tenure as president of the Baltimore Board of School Commissioners, and provides general comments on education.
