Abstract
William C. Baker was Vice President in charge of operations of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, 1949-1961. In this interview, he discusses his railroad career (beginning in 1906) in Baltimore, Western Maryland, Ohio, and Chicago; diesel engines replacing steam; servicing steam engines; trainmaster duties; and "Fair of the Iron Horse," the 1927 celebration of the one hundredth anniversary of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
