Abstract
Dorothy Coleman Lymas (1905-) was the daughter of Robert W. Coleman, Founder of the Association for the Handicapped, Inc. in Baltimore. In this interview, she discusses: the life of Robert Coleman; her early life; employment as a piano tuner; experiences with discrimination against African Americans; experiences at Maryland School for the Blind; founding of Maryland Association for the Colored Blind in 1913; efforts to publicize discriminatory practices against the handicapped; establishment of 1st class for crippled children; efforts to have African Americans appointed to various school positions; membership in civic organization, Masons; Organization of Association for the Handicapped after Coleman's death.
