Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection of land deeds, surveys, plats, indentures and warrants spans the mid-1600s to the mid-1900s. It contains documents predominantly from Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford Counties, with a few from Calvert, Frederick, and Montgomery Counties and many from Baltimore City. The deeds include many founder and place names of Maryland and were surveyed by Duvalls and Howards among others. Deeds for land acquired for Aberdeen Proving Grounds and for housing for returning World War II veterans are included. A separate box (11) contains files which are badly infested with mold. Many of the documents are very fragile or in fragments.
