MAN. Manuscript Collections

This collection primarily contains the correspondence of Baltimore banker and civic leader, D. Luke Hopkins (1898-1976). The correspondence is with members of various political, social, economic, and cultural organizations in Baltimore and Maryland and is related to financial matters and fundraising campaigns as a result of Hopkins' expertise in banking affairs.

This collection contains copies of deeds and leases for property owned or rented by Daniel Deady in Baltimore City and County.

The Daniel M. Thomas papers consist of a fairly large and varied group of papers which relate to the personal and social life of the Thomas family of West River, Maryland. Although the material ranges in date from 1674 through 1938, the bulk of the material falls into the period between 1840 and 1890.

This collection contains correspondence between members of the Dashiell family, Reverend Erastus Franklin Dashiell, his wife, Caroline Elizabeth Hull Dashiell, and her parents, Daniel and Caroline Hull, as well as documents from Rev. Dashiell’s studies at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Collection consists of correspondence, receipts, applications, minutes, etc. pertaining to the six charitable funds established in 1949 by Baltimore tobacco merchant, William Deiches, Jr. (d.1949).

This collection contains documents related to the distribution of college scholarships to Baltimore City High School students. The Deiches Scholarship Fund was established by the will of William Deiches.

This collection contains papers relating to the 18th century Irish actor, Dennis Ryan (d. 1786), and his involvement with a theatrical company performing in Baltimore, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia between 1782-1786

Journal of Joseph Despeaux, a Baltimore shipwright, showing accounts of work performed at Fells Point yard; records for 1807-10 are in French. Includes cost of material and wages paid out to laborers, among other information.
