Biographical / Historical

Judge Thomas J. Morris (1837-1912) was a lawyer and judge in Baltimore. John Morris (1805-1846), the father of Judge Morris, was a Baltimore merchant from France. Joseph Morris Cushing (died 1912) was a stationary and book merchant of Baltimore.

Scope and Contents

Personal correspondence and letters of Judge Thomas J. Morris circa 1833-1906 with Wm. G. Lathrop, his sisters, Peter Morris and George, Bladarn, and Alexander Mactier of France.

Personal and business correspondence of John Morris merchant, with wife Sarah Morris, 1837; also with Bank of england, and with George Rutland; included is marriage certificate to Sarah Chancellor.

Letters of Joseph Cushing: commission as Commissioner of Public Schools; resignation, Nomination as delegate to MD General Assembly; Receipts of Cushing's and his account books. 2 books dealing with genealogy of Cushing and Morris families. Family correspondence. (President Taft's signature).

Handwritten transcript of will of Joseph Cushing, 1807; typed copies of letters of Judge Morris; scrapbook of Joseph Cushing's death and Judge Morris' death.
