Content Description
This collection contains an assortment of books and palm-sized handbooks relating to the Odd Fellows of Baltimore. This fraternal society’s roots lie in Britain, but the first lodges in America were right here in Baltimore. Items include the following publications: “Odd Fellowship – Its History and Manual,” published circa 1890 and containing Baltimore-related content; “Code of General Laws of the I.O.O.S.,” published 1945; “Proceedings of the 13th Annual Session – The Rebekah Assembly Independent Odd Fellows of the State of Maryland,” and “Ceremonies for the Installation of Officers of Subordinate Lodges,” Baltimore, 1908. Also included are 6 photographs circa the 1940s of Oddfellows officers, including the donor’s grandfather, pictured perhaps in front of the Baltimore lodge.
