Content Description

This collection contains a 33-page unbound log handwritten in ink--including 40 line drawings of scenes and events--recording the adventures of six young Baltimore women on a month-long vacation in Maine in 1904. The vacation concluded at Chebeague Island where there was a 'Baltimore colony' of summer residents. The six women are Margaret Howard Yeaton, Elise Ingle, Mary Chase King, Neville St. George Lemmon, Janet Tucker Howell, and Elizabeth Tappan. At times the text and art seem to be a collective effort but the donor believes the principle author and illustrator to be Elise Ingle.
