Charles Eaton papers
Abstract
This collection contains insurance policies from 1830-84 issued to W. E. Mayhew and Company on warehouses, sugar, printing machinery, indigo, saltpetre, cargoes of vessels, and Avondale Flour Mill at Laurel. This collection contains 29 pieces paper money 1831-61, notes on the Susquehanna River and Bank Company, two Confederate bonds, two commissions from Roger Eaton, at the consul at Lyons, in 1843-44 and business papers of Mayhew and Company. This collection also contains extracts from journals of travel in Europe, 1939-41, a manuscript volume entitled, "A Record of the Fine Arts in the U. S.", letters from Hiram Powers to from 1845-67, regarding the statues of Washington and Jackson, letters from G. H. Calvert, H. D. Maxwell, Thomas Sully, Hooper Eaton at Lyons in addition to 9 invoices from New England Glass Company, 1825-29 and a land grant signed by Patrick Henry in 1785.
