Physical Description

The following is a handwritten note by the donor: "My grandmother, Mary Ella Clendenin, later Mrs. Edward Hadnett Ward, was the only daughter of Robert Wallace Clendenin and his wife, Belinda Pollock. Them came from pioneer families and founders of the city of New Castle, PA. Her only child was my mother Helen Clendenin Ward, the wife of my father, Col. Basil M. Stevens, of the Stevens family of Hoboken, NJ. (signed) Emily C. L. Stevens Tully", 8/2/69.
