George Buchanan Redwood notebooks

The George Buchanan Redwood Notebooks are two volumes covering the years 1917 to 1918. His mother compiled the notebooks after Redwood’s death in 1918. The first volume contains written accounts of his life. There are several passages written in memory of his achievements, both scholastic and military. Transcripts of his citations of bravery, oath of allegiance, and his military orders are included. Some photographs of Redwood are distributed throughout the volume.

The second volume contains transcripts of letters Redwood wrote to his family and friends during the war. Several of these letters are to his mother. There are a few letters included in the volume written to Redwood. This second volume also has 56 postcards of Northern France, circa 1918, that Redwood bought.

The contents of these notebooks, though not original, were collected in memorandum of a beloved son. Mrs. Redwood typed letters to, from and about George Buchanan Redwood to remember him by. These notebooks are, in essence, scrapbooks of his life.
