This manuscript collection is comprised of papers from John McCulloh and his sons James, Andrew, and Samuel. The collection features correspondence that covers several topics, including commerce, bonds, invoices, bills, medical training and travel.

Biographical / Historical
John McCulloh was born in 1747. He was a Revolutionary War soldier and a merchant in Philadelphia. He had three sons-James, Samuel, and Andrew. He died in 1800.

Arrangement
This collection is arranged into three boxes. The first box features eleven folders of material, primarily ledger sheets, estate documents, letters between John McCulloh and his son James McCulloh, and letters from the mercantile firm of Knox, Usher, McCulloh.
The second box in the collection includes eight folders. The majority of these folders contain correspondence between John and James McCulloh, and letters from Knox, Usher, McCulloh to John McCulloh. Other items in this box include ledger sheets and letters on varying topics.
The last box in the collection contains two folders. The first folder mostly contains letters from Samuel McCulloh to his father John and letters from William Knox to John. The last folder in the collection contains a mix of receipts, ledger sheets, letters from Calvin Cooper to John, and other miscellaneous correspondence.
