Scope and Contents

The Ruth and De Coursey Families Photograph Collection consists of photographs relating to the Ruths, Nelsons, De Courseys, Phipps and other families, circa 1850‑1940. Includes identified portraits and images of the house, Homeland, in Baltimore, and group photographs of Johns Hopkins students in 1905, including a young men’s mandolin and guitar orchestra. Materials include cabinet photographs, cartes de visites, and photographic prints.

There are several diplomas and Red Cross certificates, including a Johns Hopkins University diploma for Thomas De Coursey Ruth.
