Biographical / Historical

Bertha Wooden (married Henry E. Wack) was the mother of the donor. She attended Normal School and taught in Washington County, Maryland. Dorothy Yoe (married William Kalben) was a member of the staff of the Baltimore County Health Department. The Yoe and Wack families immigrated to Baltimore from Germany in the 1840s-1850s.

Many of the photographs concern Bertha Wooden’s life in Washington County in the 1890. Views include church and Sunday school friends and activities.
