Scope and Contents

The Mary Virginia Randall collection of Hickman-Smith family photographs consists of one box of 34 photographs circa 1850 – 1900, related to the Smith and Hickman families. Items include cased daguerreotypes and ambrotypes, tintypes, and carte de visites. Some of the cased photographs originally had identification labels, but they have become separated from the corresponding photos. Labels read: Sophia Hickman/daughter of Jane Hickman, Sophia Engleberth (Mrs. Winthrop)/daughter of Elizabeth Smith Engleberth, Mrs. Judith Smith wife of James Smith/parents of Richard Smith, Daughter of James and Judith Smith/sister of Richard Smith/ Jane Smith-Hickman.
