Scope and Contents

The collection consists of two boxes of two photo albums containing 141 carte de visites circa 1860s. Album #1 contains mostly unidentified portraits. These have been removed from the album and are located in Box 1. The majority of the items in Album #2 are identified portraits of Civil War generals including Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman, Benjamin Butler, Abner Doubleday, and Winfield Scott. Box 2 contains Album #2 and Album #1(sans photographs).
