This collection consists of seven scrapbooks (1948-1969) compiled by J. Webster Jones (1893-1971) in which he collected newspaper articles and photographs related primarily to Baltimore City and the State of Maryland.

Scope and Contents

Vol I.- full length articles about Baltimore and MD history; section on modern Baltimore architecture built since 1960; group of full page photos on schools, colleges, hospitals, museums, and monuments in MD; photos of Baltimore's historic houses and the Flower Mart celebrations. Vol 2.-primarily contains photos which appeared in the weekly newspaper columns, "Baltimore Scenes: Old and Yet New," and "I Remember" Vol 3-Misc. articles and photos predominantly concerned with Ft. McHenry, Flag House, Francis Scott Key, CONSTELLATION, Ft. Carroll, and Federal Hill; also contains a section of articles about Baltimore during the Civil War Vol. 4-unorganized collection of newspaper clippings on aspects of Baltimore life from baseball to the Flood of 1868; Vol 5-more of the same type of clippings found in Vol 2; also selections on Druid Hill Park, Patterson Park, and Jones Falls Valley; Vol. 6-misc. photos and articles about Baltimore and MD, many of which appear in the five preceeding volumes; Vol. 7- majority of the news clippings deal with restaurants, hotels, neighborhood markets, and small businesses which were once located in Baltimore.
