Archer family correspondence
James J. Archer was a Maryland lawyer and officer in the Mexican-American War and American Civil War. This collection contains two decades of correspondence between Archer and his family and includes descriptions of Archer's life during wartime and his experiences as a prisoner of war prior to his death (1864-1865). Also included in the collection is various correspondence between other Archer family members.

Buckler family papers
This collection contains correspondence 1775-1938, receipted bills 1793-1813; 1862; land papers 1770-1860; shipping invoices 1840-50. The bulk of the material is correspondence of the Buckler family, principally letters to William Buckler (1804-70) from his brother, Dr. Thomas Hepburn Buckler (1812-1901), and two sisters Elizabeth Buckler (1793-1849) and Mattie Augusta Lindsay Buckler (1806-86), while William Buckler was abroad on trips to China.
General Robert C. Buchanan papers
This collection connsists of extensive military correspondence of General Robert C. Buchanan, as well as some personal correspondence, circa 1811-1890.
Tilghman family papers
This collection consists of the papers of the Richard Tilghman family, spanning five generations and including three major wars. The papers, mostly correspondence, are divided into subgroups of land papers, papers of the four principal family members, and finally miscellaneous papers.
