The collection consists of materials related to Provident Hospital, one of the first Black medical facilities in Baltimore, Maryland. These materials date from the mid to late 20th century and include financial records, hospital newsletters, local newspaper publications, as well as ephemera from the period following Provident Hospital’s merger with Lutheran Hospital of Maryland.

This collection comprises 5 oral history interviews focused on those working in the science and technology fields. All subjects worked in the Baltimore area during the 1970s-early-1990s. Materials include audio recordings.

Collection of manuscript items related to Dr. N. Louise Young (1907-1997), Maryland’s first practicing African American female physician, and her family. The collection includes correspondence; materials related to Dr. Young’s tenure at Provident Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland; and an assortment of citations and awards presented to Dr. Young for her professional and charitable work.
