This includes such documents as letters between family members, birth certificates, and death notices. Of particular interest is correspondence from William M. James Maughlin diary
This collection contains the Civil War diary of James W. Maughlin (1837-1869), third engineer on the gunboat steamer "Kineo" as it supported Admiral Farragut's fleet in the Mississippi between New Orleans and Port Huron. The diary contains a daily record of the events between January 1, 1863 to July 29, 1863. Also included in this collection is a typed transcript of the diary with footnotes, and a photograph of James W. Maughlin, circa 1861.
