Abstract

The collection consists of 21 black and white photographs as well as ephemera related to George A. Klerlein (1870-1945) and his cigar stores from circa 1900 to 1928. Klerlein owned and operated two cigar stores in Baltimore, Maryland during the beginning of the 20th century. The images depict scenes inside Klerlein’s stores as well as crowd scenes in the surrounding neighborhoods.

This collection contains negatives, contact sheets, and black and white photographic prints taken by Peggy Fleming of the Hughesville, Maryland tobacco auction on March 21, 2006, the last tobacco auction to take place in Maryland.

This ledger contains accounts in English currency of foodstuffs and tobacco, tools and services rendered by John Croxall, from 1779-1784. Many pages pasted over with poetry and stories from newspapers, etc. ca. 1835.
