Documentary photography -- United States -- History -- 20th century

This collection contains 27 black and white photographs taken by photographer and filmmaker Alexandra Peeler (1938-2022), which were displayed at the Turner Auditorium on the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine campus in an exhibition entitled “Scenes of East Baltimore” beginning in December 1973. This exhibit was produced by Peeler during her time as Associate Director of Public Affairs at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (JHMI).

This collection includes 219 photographs from the East Baltimore Documentary Photography Project. The photographs depict various communities, buildings, and people across East Baltimore from 1976 to 1980.

The Photo Baltimore ’77 Collection consists of more than 16,000 black and white photographs in 11 boxes. The images consist of views of architecture, cultural events, street scenes, portraits, sporting events, religious organizations and more in Baltimore and the vicinity.
