George B. Redwood papers
This collection contains the incoming and outgoing correspondence of George Buchanan Redwood, a Baltimore newspaper writer and the first commissioned officer from Baltimore to die in World War I. Also included in this collection are Redwood's school papers and miscellaneous drawings and notes, as well as personal letters addressed to his mother, Mary Buchanan Coale Redwood.
James McHenry papers
This collection contains one original letter, manuscript copies of letters, and typed copies of letters from James McHenry and various other political and military leaders during the Revolutionary War. Also included is the diary of Captain Wilson Mile Cary, C.S.A., 1862-1864.
Mordecai Gist papers
This collection contains the correspondence of Brigadier General Mordecai Gist during the American Revolution. Topics include military affairs and the Maryland Line, accounts and returns (1779-83), and Gist family records.
Robert Dorsey Coale papers
This collection contains the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Robert Dorsey Coale, a colonel in the Fifth Maryland Regiment during and after the Spanish-American War, as well as a science professor and Dean of the University of Maryland.
Tench Tilghman letters
This collection contains 38 letters dated 1768 to 1781 from Tench Tilghman (1744-1786) to his father, James Tilghman (1716-1793), as well as to his brother, Chief Justice William Tilghman (1756-1827). The majority of the letters were written during Tench’s time as an aide-de-camp to General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Tench and his father corresponded frequently and his letters cover numerous details of the war from the Washington staff perspective.
World War I collection
This collection consists of materials dealing specifically with World War I (1914-1918). Includes correspondence, diaries, personal remembrances, discharge papers, and poetry from Maryland soldiers who fought or were involved in the conflict.
