Biographical / Historical
Jack Symington Griswold grew up in Maryland, where he attended Calvert School and Gilman School. He continued his education at Princeton University and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Griswold's family history in Maryland hails back to involvement in Alex Brown and Sons, an investment trust advisory that moved from Ireland to Maryland in the 1800s. Griswold credit his uncle, J. Fife Symington Jr. (OH 8485), for helping Griswold to foster an interest in Maryland history. Like his uncle, that interest led Griswold to join the Maryland Historical Society's Board of Trustees. Over his years of service on the Board, he would become chairman and president.
