Lowe-Seth papers

Abstract

This collection consists of the business papers of the Lowe, Seth and Ensey families, settlers in colonial Maryland. They contain indentures and deeds of land, land surveys, promissory notes, inventories of household goods, receipts for money received, legal papers and deeds pertaining to the Low and Seth families, and mortgages, 1709-1909.

Abstract

The Sherlock Swann collection contains official reports and correspondence, notes, drafts, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and maps relating to Swann's public service positions. The materials consist of records saved from his positions as head of the Burnt District Commission (1904-1907), President of the Board of Police Commissioners (1908-1910) and his work with the Traffic Commission and Postmaster of Baltimore. The majority of this material spans the years 1904-1923.

Genealogical data on the Shriver and related families. The collection traces the history of the family from Alsenborn Germany. Ludwig Schreiber originated the Conewago, Maryland branch. He immigrated in 1721 with his parents and brother Andrew who originated the Union Mills branch. Related families include: Forney, Yingling, Davis, Trexell, Koontz, Zahn, Kupsco, Shultz, Fundenberg, Myer, Colbert and Kitzmiller. Also some material on non-related Shriver families.
